Purchasing New Laptop

Hi Everybody!

Okay, so I want to buy a new laptop.

I've narrowed it down two systems:

An HP zd6700 AMD system or a Dell Inspiron 6000 Intel Centrino.

My biggest issues are:

How does Linux work with AMD versus Intel chips?

Also, The HP has the new ViewBright screen. The Inspiron has the old anti-glair LCd display.

Although the new viewbright screens add more vividness, I think the glare can sometimes be annoying. How do you guys feels using the Viewbright screen for extensive programming (and also CLI use - the blackness really brings out the glare)?

Any other suggestions will be great!

Take Care!
Murdock

I believe that the intel chip at a whole is a better choice. I personally do not like the ViewBright Screen.

The best thing would be to visit:
www.linux-laptop.net

and see reviews of models (or similar ones) to what you intend to buy and see compatibility.

And you might know if you need really good 3D graphics better is Nvidia - the drivers are better than ATI(though not GPL).
