Projectors with Linux

Hello. I have found that the only way of getting a projector to work is if you boot your computer with the projector plugged in to your computer.

Isn't there any way to do it without having to boot with it? Sort of like a Windows Fn + F7. It would be nice, because I've lost many grades for doing it

And by the way I googled and I seem to be the only one complaining about it so ... could someone please tell me where to look? Thanks a bunch for reading this. !

Well, first thing I'll say is.. So what? So you have to reboot.. no big deal...
Then second thing.. google it for dual monitor from a laptop, because most people don't care about profectors. Any generic dual monitor XF86Config should have what you need.

It might be that there is some bios setting that enables the video port only when it senses a monitor connected, then there is most likely a way to configure it so it's always enabled.

Then there is some alt+f10 or some such key that switches it on and off. That's usually there for presentations when you need to look something that your audience isn't supposed to see.
