Is it possible that my laptop is in fact overclocking my processor... every time that it gets a tough task to do, it scales the frequency right up, and the fan isn't powerful enough to handle it... If so, is there a way ro me to lower the maximum allowed frequency for the ondemand governor?

I hate to be a dirty bumper, but this is really kind of important... Processor overheating is NOT pretty :P
