You can drag windows while you keep the <alt> button pressed; in that case you can have your mouse pointer anywhere in the window and this will allow you to see the bottom of a window that is too big.
Open terminal and issue the commands in bold in the code blocks below. The first one can be used to check if you have gotten an ip-address (see red marked text).

The second one is used to check if there might be an issue with DNS; I think it's quite normal to see the address of your wireless router there.
