problems with frame buffer
 
I have the necessary components set to modules in the kernel (2.6.8 and 2.4.27) for necessary frame buffer configuration. So once the kernel is compiled and I install it , lilo then reboot. The screen still goes blank right after it says booting linux. The default kernel with install works fine in 800x600.

Laptop is A Toshiba Satellite 2230CDS with a 2mb trident.

I've read the HOWOt, google and here and for some reason I'm missing something.

if i understood right you compiled the FB as modules?
it needs to be compiled inside the kernel itself AFAIK

I took out one strange thing that was set to be compiled under the console drivers. Problem fixed, booting and loving it.
