Problems with FC4 on Acer 4601wlmi

I am a noob to linux and didnt know where else to post the topic...Please help me out!!!

I installed the new Fedora Core 4 on my acer travelmate 4601, but after rebooting im facing the following problems.

1) My touchpad was not detected during installation.
2)Sound did not work during initial configuration.
3) My system hangs up at the point where PCMCIA services are started
4) After I do an interactive startup and disable the Pcmcia service, the system just stops at a blue screen saying "gdm.conf" is not configured correctly, please configure and reboot

Please help me out

Thanks in advance

Amit

I would recommend getting a bootable distro such as Knoppix, Kanotix, Damn Small or even Linspire and booting them up to see what gets recogized. If they boot up ok and the devices are working you could see what modules you need setup. Whenever I shop I for a laptop (or any hardware for that matter) I check the comptibility lists and try out a bootable distro on it.
