Problems Audio/Sound To Work Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM

Problems getting
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03)
audio (sound) to work.

I think this card is an intel8x0 but it does not really work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work?

I tried to get it to work using the following method but hat did not work.

When I run this command dmseg which displays the messages from boot-up i noticed this.

When I installed Debian 4.0 Etch it would freeze, so I had to hit F6 key and type "install pci=off" something like this to get past the freezing during the instalation of the O.S.

I suggest that you do not do this! Use the other default command that they provide you. If you hit F6 it tells you to try a different combination to get past this issue. You need pci=on for many things like checking your laptop power status, some audio cards configuration and some daemons.

Don't turn pci off.

Thanks, Lex
