Keep stumbling on the same message right at the beginning of Dual booting on USB indicating that the drive should be reformatted Flat but I already did 10 times ...???? I even bought a brand new 16 G USB to run ....alas same message??? Any idea how to go pass that first hurdle and run UBUNTU
Dual booting what on a usb? You want Ubuntu and some other operating system on the usb or you have another OS on an internal hard drive and you want Ubuntu on the usb? What do you do to get the message about needing to be re-formatted?
Thxs for your reply. I have a Mac OS X 10.7.5. for the moment being new to LInux I want to be able to keep this and be able to initiate myself to linux.. Ubuntu.. hence dual booting choice... hence the USB the USB is new there is nothing on it. I wwas asked to dowload Unetbootin to do so and start from there.... BUT I choose the disk image location that is where I get stuck with that message to reformat to Fat although I already did it (Erase) ... Is it clear enough??
If you downloaded the Mac version of unetbootin from their site and have your Ubuntu iso on the drive and have formatted the usb vfat/FAT32 (two names for thesame fielsystem) then when you point unetbootin to the Ubuntu iso, it should start to create the bootable usb of Ubuntu. I don't know why you would be getting the message you are, bad download of unetbootin maybe. Might try removing the current unetbootin and downloading again. Never used a Mac so that's my only suggestion.
