Problem with Starting Linux Mint

I have downloaded and put it on my flash drive, than I booted and the Mint screen was on but than after than it made a sound but now I've waited for a few seconds and nothing is happening, it's all black. What does this mean, what do I have to do?

Is the monitor solid black with no cursor or errors?

Which version of Mint?

Which program did you use to make the usb?

If made from a live dvd will the dvd boot?

The monitor is solid black, I even tried to work with Ubuntu, does the samething. There's sound but you could hardly see a thing.

The Mint version is the latest, 11 and Ubuntu is the latest - 11.

Program is Universal USB Installer, should I try a different installer? Although there's a start-up screen but after there, it goes black.

What are the specs of your computer and monitor?
You may have a video problem.

The Universal installer works good with the ubuntu and Mint products.

Did you test this install on another system? I'd try that first.

At boot if you see the (actually grub) screen you can press space bar to see a menu list. One ought to be safe mode, try that.

If it still boots to black then try ctrl+alt and press F2. See anything?

Was the flash installer app exactly for Mint 11?
