Problem with sound Compaq presario 2100

Hello , I am new to linux , I have installed linux mandrake 9.0 on a compaq presario 2100 laptop, every seems to work fine , but I have a problem with the sound , I am using KDE and mp3's works fine , but when I minimize or I maximize a windows or I move the bar the sounds make a weird noise or it skips part of the song, I don't know how to fix it , hope you can help me. the problem only happens with kde cause if I use gnome I have no problem with the sound.

A real long shot here, as I don't have much info. It sounds like moving the windows could be having an adverse affect on resources.

Just check this: at a prompt, type : hdparm /dev/hda
DMA should be on. If not, type hdparm -d1 /dev/hda

I also had a problem a bit like this ages ago, and fixed it by restoring bios settings to defaults.
