Problem with Macbook 13" running Ubuntu

Hi, i have a really frustrating problem with my external monitor on my Macbook, I have installed the 915resolution hack and this has allowed me to run 1280 x 800 resolution, and have tried installing new drivers for my intel 945gm graphics card, but nothing seems to work.

The problem is that my laptop screen works perfectly, but my widescreen (external) monitor is fuzzy and also cuts of the bottom of the screen. This is quite frustrating as i have tried lots of different solutions, but nothing seems to work. No-one seems to even have the exact problem i do, although there are problems from other people running the 945gm card. I am very new to Linux and am just learning how it all works. Please help!
