problem installation on a ACER Travelmate 630 Laptop

Hello every body,

I am very new linux user and I would like leave B. Gates environment but I have some problems,
I installed EDUNLIX 2004 (mandrake 10) on my Acer Travelmate 630 Laptop and it was easy. But I have some little problems :
1: the linux window doesn't use all the screen surface , I have dark bands around the window.
My graphic card is a NVIDIA GForce 2, configurated in 1024X764. Could you help my to have the window on all the computer screen.
2: when i try to install printers at the end of this installation, I must enter a password linked to my username but it doesn't work?

Thank to all for yours respons.
