Power Management, Ubuntu on Dell Inspiron 1150
...doesn't seem to work really. I'm using Feisty, have used the power management app to go for hibernation when close lid and low battery etc., but nothing happens when I close the lid (stays on, screen still up).
It will go into screen suspend mode after the specified time, but the screen's backlight remains on, though the screen goes blank, which isn't much good at all.
I'm reasonably techie, but a total Linux noob. I have checked in Synaptics Package Manager, and I have these installed:
acpi
acpid
acpi-support
apmd
hibernate
powermgmt-base
xfce-4 battery-plugin
I'm running Feisty full Ubuntu but with Xfce installed after. Specs are Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, 2.6ghz Celeron, 512mb, Intel 82855 graphics.
Have googled, but have absolutely no idea where to start with this stuff. Any advice please?
