Angry Power and Processor Management.

I found this...

echo "brightness:7" > /proc/acpi/toshiba/lcd

in another forum, relating to controling monitor brightness. It works perfectly. Now, in browsing through /proc/acpi, I find directories for Processor, Thermal, Battery states and controls, power levels. I tried the echo "blah:blah" > blah for other controls such as my 8 level Pentium 4 processor, but nothing else seems to be affected by the echo command, and idea's why or how to control these features?

No one real address to post... I browsed sourceforge forums, snippits of sites from slashdot... googled it a bit and came up with misc. stuff...
basically the processor was echo -n N > throttling
with n being the number of the level you want, since my processor supports throttling...
