plz save my hardisk's life

i am writing the lette to ask ur huge help for resuming my hard disk after unsuccessful installing Red Hat 9.0.

i was installing red hat 9.0 in my laptop tonight, but some guy suddenly switched off power so that the procedure of installation was fored stopping, then i could not restart lap anymore, except the screen display as following:

/ **

CRUB version0.93 (634k lower/ 522176k uppper memory)

[Minimal BASH-like line editiong is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device /filename.]

grub>

**/

i don't have boot disk to restart into windown OS as well, and there are lots of important document in harddisk so i couldn't use recovery cd-rom, i don't have any idea to deal with it, could you spread some light on that.

i m looking forward to hearing your message. thanks in advace.

you just see the default GRUB boot prompt. Usualy it looks for its config file. but since the setup isn't complete, that file isn't there and GRUB is wailting for you.

How did you set it up? partition layout? (as detailed as possible)
Once I get thet info, I can tell you how to make GRUB start your windows

I assume you have XP, I never done this before with XP but you need to fix the MBR 'Master Boot Record'. You should be able to boot with a Microsoft boot disk and type fixmbr. I don't know for sure if this will work but maybe someone can confirm this before you try it.

Start here and find out how to get into recovery console with your CD

OS: XP professional
there are two original partitions , C and D, then i get one more partition by Partition Magic .

install step.
1. i chose set up with graph interface.
2. chose only remove all linux information in the disk.
3. install workstation model.
4. after just finished collecting package form 1 of 3 installation CD, the power has been switched off.

i wond if these informatio are enough .

thanks .

I can guess. try these commands in GRUB:
Code:

rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

if it works, great. if it fails, tell me what it sais.
