pilot-link not working with USB Serial-USB Converter with m105

Hi, I'm trying to get my m105 to work with pilot-link and jpilot using Debian Sarge and kernel 2.6.12.5. I compiled the kernel with palm support, and on startup (if the palm is plugged in) all the appropriate modules load (visor etc) with no errors.

When I press the hotsync button, however, nothing happens (I've tried pushing in jpilot first, pilot first, and simultaneously). I've used ttyUSB0 and ttyUSB1 (the latter gives "device number too high, device lied" error in dmesg, the former fails silently) as well as the /dev/pilot (which won't autogen).

Any help would be appreciated.

Alex
