I've got feeling the CPU of my laptop is somehow misconfigured. It should have three speedsteps: 733 MHz, 1 GHz, 1.2 GHz. Right now it can do only first two. I think the fastest speed is somehow disabled. I have never fiddled with laptops before, thus the question:
Is it worth disassembling, can the CPU type be set by user (there's nothing in BIOS setup)?
Well... There is a story. I bought this T23 refurbished. Did some compiling on it, overheated probably, it refused to boot. It was under warranty, so I sent it back. Their technician fixed it. Now it boots, but 1.2 GHz speedstep is missing. I think they disabled it to protect the notebook from a bad user (that's me). Needless to say, I want it back. The question still is:
How to set CPU type on an IBM Thinkpad T23?
