pcmcia nic prob
I just installed Debian Woody with Kernel 2.4 on my Acer Extensa 501T.
I cannot bring the Xircom PCMCIA network card to work. I tried a couple of things, well, they didn't work ... Any suggestions? Please bear in mind that I pretty new to Linux. Any help is much appreciated. *edit* cardctl ident told me that there's no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices but how do I load a driver?? Theries |
So I found out, that there's no driver loaded. Where do I go from here?
With modconf I tried to load xirc2ps_cs only to get this error message: ds: no socket driver loaded! /lib/modules/2.4.16-386/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: init_module: Operation not permitted /lib/modules/2.4.16-386/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.16-386/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o failes /lib/modules/2.4.16-386/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: insmod xirc2ps_cs failed Does anybody have a clue what that means and what I can do about it? |
and if you try the following command as root:
modprobe xirc2ps_cs does it work? |
I tried and got the same errror message as above. But thanks anyways ...

have try to follow the section 3 of the PCMCIA HOWTO (http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/ftp...CIA-HOWTO.html)
else post the output of the /var/log/messages corresponding to your problem... It should give more info |
