I've just installed Mandrake 9.2 on my new hp4430us, the install has run fine but when i startup it stops at starting pcmcia and i don't have any cards.
I dont know about mandrake, but be patient and give the module time to load - maybe 10 min - go drink a coffee - and if it has been loaded or failed to load, but mandrake has started, go to the settings and disable pcmcia.
I had this problem after I took off my wireless lan card from my laptop, and it froze when it was time to load it. I just waited some time,slackware was started, and after that commented the lines in /etc/rc.d/rc.local which activate my wireless lan.
