Palm Pilot not found

I'm running SuSE 9 (kernel 2.4.21-192-default) with KDE and KPilot Daemon and/or Ximian Evolution but can't see the Palm Zire on my USB port.... Any useful pointers? XP booted up sees it fine so I at least know port and device are valid.

Thanks
