Any working solution for Optimus in linux laptop?

Have Clevo W150HRM and opensuse 12.1.

Bumblebee/Ironhide

Works well on my Debian. Don't know about OpenSUSE.

Been here (With different stuff). Curse yourself for not buying linux-compatible gear.

It doesn't currently work, right? Grab a bleeding edge kernel, bleeding edge drivers, bleeding edge Mesa. Install them beside a sane system if possible, so you can still use your box.

Then join in the fun. This is your chance to contribute to the OSS community, trying this and that, adding patches, and generally helping to develop Optimus support. We would be less 'out of humour' if we didn't have to do that, but a small dose of it once in a while makes us appreciate whet we get for free.

When Radeon support was coming on stream, I had to update pixman, libdrm, xorg-server, & mesa, (and the rest) just to compile the radeon drivers.

I have 'bumblebee' loaded from opensuse 12.1 repository (and nvidia driver).

Now I can use eGPU, ie. glxgears works, but automatic power saving doesn't work with this hardware. I am using a separate script for acpi_call to switch eGPU off. But switch it back again I need to restart PC!!!!

May be the 'bumblebeed' under development will work better, will test soon.

Bumblebee 3.0 works for the Clevo W150HRM (confirmed by an Arch Linux and Ubuntu user here). Drop acpi_call completely for non-testing purposes.

Compile if necessary...

You might look to see if what you downloaded from the openSUSE 12.1 repository is the latest version of Bumblebee. It has just been updated to a new version. You probably also need the very latest version of the linux kernel.

The poster above, Lekensteyn, is one of the developers of Bumblebee 3.0, the latest best.

thorkelljarl is right, the OpenSUSE repository contains the old version without automatic PM and uses the deprecated acpi_call instead. Generic installation instructions can be found on http://wiki.bumblebee-project.org/Install-and-usage

There are no special kernel requirements I know of, but for the nouveau driver kernel 3.1 or newer is recommended.
