running Mandriva 2009 on presario CQ50 with optiarc DVD drive. This DVD RW drive does not recognize DVDs or audio CDs but does see data disks and was able to burn a data DVD in k3B. Dolphin file manager pops up with title of DVD but nothing further. Dolphin does not pop up with audio CDs. It does recognize data discs. (CD and DVD)

MCC sees the drive and lists options as umask=0,users,iocharset=uf8,noauto,ro,exec

but there is no entry in fstab or mtab

None of the media software can find media ("no media present") KsCD, Amarok, Totem, Dragon video player.

Could this have to do with the sound driver? DRM?

Drive works in Vista
