OPENGL and Toshiba A45-S120 SLOW?
Hey Guys.
Got a Toshiba Satellite A45-S10 running Kubuntu 6.10 EDGY.
Runs great except for one little problem... OpenGL runs horribly slow. This thing is a 2.6 ghz with a gig of ram, so I see no excuse for OpenGL to run like this machine is a old 486.
According to What I can see... OpenGL is set up and such, as it's reporting to me it's using the Mesa engine...

It appears the system is using the i810 video driver. Something tells me that's the problem, considering the system has a Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02) according to lspci, plus the GLXINFO saying direct rendering is off...
Any ideas?? This whole slow graphics thing is making it really really hard to sell linux to my friends... they say "dude that runs like total #$$#, why would I want that?!?!" :D |
