Ogle giving region errors on Inspiron 5100

I am trying to use ogle to view a DVD on my laptop, and I get the following error:
Code:
Ogle can't read any data.
Make sure that the CSS authentication works correctly.
See also the FAQ at http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~dvd/faq.shtml
Three common problems are:
no write permission on you DVD drives device node.
you are trying to play a DVD from a region other than the one of the DVD drive.
or you have never set the region on the drive.
I checked the properties of the device node for my drive. User, group, and world all have read and write access. The region stuff just baffles me, I never had to do this for the DVD-ROM drive on my desktop. Has anyone else run into this problem? I suspect that the problem isn't really with the region, though, since I get the following output from dmesg regarding my CDRW/DVD-ROM combo drive:
Code:
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
cdrom: open failed.
cdrom: open failed.
The wierd thing about all this is that the DVD menu comes up (I tested using all 3 discs of "The Critic: The Entire Series on DVD"), and I can navigate through the menu, but once I select an episode, ogle dies and spits out the error I copy-and-pasted at the top.

Well, the DVD plays in mplayer, but I would still rather use Ogle since mplayer doesn't support DVD menus.

I've tried a couple other discs, and they have both worked in Ogle and MPlayer, so it may just be a problem with The Critic DVDs. It still doesn't seem to be region-related, though, since all the DVDs I have tried have been Region 1 DVDs.
