nw8240 overheating in FC6

Hey People,

I'm having trouble with Fedora 6 on my HP/Compaq nw8240. Almost everything works fine (parltly due to previous help from you), but after a while (like: an hour) the system slows down and eventualy comes grinding to a halt. At the same time, the laptop feels realy hot (much hotter as when using windows) and the fan is on 100% of the time (which it isn't in windows).

An extra proof of my theory seems to be the following weird thing: when using the laptop flat on the table, the problem starts after 15 minutes. When using a statif (putting it vertically), it takes much longer to run into trouble.

Does anybody recognize this strange behaviour? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I realy love my linux installation...

Kind regards,

Knut Nidelven

There are some notes on fan control in this installation report for this model.
