NTSF for Acer Aspire One installation problem - installed by still can't write
Help!
When I "yum install ntfs-3g" from the root commandline on my Acer Aspire One, I still can't write to the 500 GB drive I just bought. I installed it once, and it installed fine, but I still can't write to it. I tried installing again but it just says it has already been installed. I really need to back up my Acer One and re-format everything, as I am getting some corrupted memory. Thanks |
Are you mounting it specifically with ntfs-3g through the command line or fstab? Or are you using gnome and automounting it with gvfs? I think gvfs has a tendency to use the alternative ntfs utility without write support.

Hmm.
After installing I have only just tried plugging it in and tried to dump some data onto it from the file manager. This not how to do it? |
Well, run "mount" and look at what driver it's mounted with. If it's not ntfs-3g, then you know what your problem is.

Well, fortunately, I figured out how to use umount and ntsf-config
UNFORTUNATELY, I got the black screen of death after moving around some files and lost 75 GB of stuff that I never backed up. sigh. |
