Non Bootable CD Drive can I use floppys?

I have an Acer Aspire 1513 LMi, unfortunatly my inbuilt DVD drive has stopped working, so at the moment I am using an external Lacie Firewire DVD burner. The problem is it isnt bootable and I want to install Suse on my laptop but at the moment canīt see how I can do that. I have an external USB floppy disk drive that is bootable, is there a way that i can make a boot disk with that then use the firewire DVD drive or something (like we used to do in the old days before CD drives were bootable).

Iīm sure it isnt that complecated, could someone give me some guidence?

Thanks
James

According to the SuSE documentation, there should be a directory on the first CD called boot, which contains boot floppy images and a README explaining their use. I should point out that I've never actually done this myself, but I think it should be possible to achieve what you need.
