No sound to speakers of Dell Inspiron 5100 under Mandrake 9.2
Hi,
Just a small question: I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 with dual boot WinXP/Mandrake 9.2. Under WinXP, sound goes neatly to the internal speakers.
However, under linux (Mandrake 9.2), sound is produced to the headphone output (I can listen to audio files on my harddisk under linux with my headphones) but nothing is coming from the internal speakers.
I already tried to maximize all possible channels under the AlsaMixer and under kmix, but without success...
fluppe42; not sure but from ur post seems it maybe a slight mis config with
mdk puzzled? if w no problem mdk headgear ok but speakers mute. hum
just to be safe check the connection from pc to external speakers. may have loose connection that could cause that problem intermittanly. if it is not that then check config of mdk sound.
Well, the problem is about the *internal* speakers inside my laptop, that don't give sound output (however, under WinXP, they work fine). In the Mandrake Control Center, I see all kind of configuration options for my soundcard (which works fine, I guess) but not for the speakers...
fluppe42; look thru starter guide, believe saw a page or phrase mentioning
something with reference to sound not working under certain conditions. can not recall exact wording or page. but it would be worth investigateing
to find answers and resolving problem.
