Looks like the alsactl store command worked once I used an "L" instead of a "1" at the end of "alsact". It did save my settings to the alsa mixer. Still have to type modprobe snd-intel8x0 from a command line to start up sound though.

One step closer!

Most distros put modules to load on boot in /etc/modules. Maybe suse is different. Search on suse forum to see if you can find out how.

Not sure why alsactl store doesn't work either. Maybe you don't have alsa-utils installed?
