no IPv6 routers present (IPW2200 1.0.h6)

I'm running Debian unstable on a thinkpad x41 which uses the IPW2200 module. I used module-assistant to download and install the module, and while I can associate and scan for access points, I can't seem to get an IP:

Code:

DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 21
This is the output of dmesg

eth1: no IPv6 routers present
This has worked for me on other distro's like Arch and Suse but for some reason is giving me fits here. I've disabled all security on the router so it can't be a WEP/WPA issue. Any ideas?

And the router does have a DHCP server enabled?

The "no ipv6 routers present" message doesn't mean much here since you're not trying to use ipv6.

Yes, the router does have DHCP enabled. It's still a POS D-link though which is half the problem. I disabled IPv6 based on an article I read on OSNews. Although I'm using Debian Unstable it worked for me except I modified the /etc/modprobe.d/alias file instead.

Here is the bit from the article:

"Apparently, the IPv6 code in the 2.6 kernel is also somewhat buggy. There were long delays in name resolution when using Firefox. In order to fix this, I had to disable IPv6 support in the /etc/modprobe.conf file by adding the line "alias ipv6 off" followed by another line, "alias net-pf-10 off".
