No fun with Aurox
Hey Gang,
I'm having quite a bit of trouble after installing Aurox 12 on my laptop. Specs are: Micron Transport gx+, 650mhz proc, 512mb of RAM. The first is, it appears to be choking on it. It's possible this could be an overheating issue, but before Aurox, it ran Windows XP just fine. The second problem is the mouse pointer. It's showing up as a black and white box, and when it begins to choke (which it does often) it disappears temporarily. The final problem occurs during bootup. When it gets to the KDE splash screen, it displays an error: 'Authenticating Hakin9, A critical error has occured. Please look at KDM's logfile(s) for more info or contact your system administrator. I'm not sure how to view this log, I don't know where it's home is.

Bump
I believe I might have narrowed down the choking problem. After letting the laptop sit for a while powered off, turned it on and it operated fine for a few minutes. So, it might be an overheating issue. I'm looking into a new thermal pad for it, it's about 7 or 8 years old. Any help is appreciated.

Hey,
I thought of the RAM problem. I'm currently running one of three Ram testers. The first one is kind of like a walk, jog, sprint. It's made it through the walk and jog portions OK. To be safe, I also ran some video and CPU diagnostic tests. Those all came back negative for problems. If all goes well with the RAM tests, I'll reinstall and post results either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Hey,
I ran a series of tests on my laptop. I ran a ten minute max load tests on all devices. It ran without error. I also ran individual RAM, hard disk, cd-rom, AGP and floppy disk (figured I wouldn't leave any stone unturned), they all ran without error. I'm stuck between it being an overheating processor or a faulty disc. However, it installs flawlessly on my regular computer. So, i'm kind back at square one. The nly difference being I've succeeded at finding what doesn't work.
