No floppy, no cdrom on SR27K; now to upgrade RH8 to RH9?
Greetings All,
I have successfully installed Redhat 8 on my Sony Vaio SR27K laptop, but I can not upgrade to Redhat 9. Somwhere in the boot process (from the first rh9 cd), the whole works simple hangs. This is most likely due to the fact that the cdrom interfaces through the pcmcia slot (I had no such difficulties with RH8).
I see the boot images and driver disk images (for pcmcia), so here is my question: Can I boot an image directly, putting the necessary files in one place of another ? Currently the laptop is dual boot, and the Win2K partition has all three ISO install images sitting there.
I am really at a loss as to how to get the installer running to do the upgrade.
Current layout:
hda1 - Windows 2000
hda3 - Redhat 8, boots using GRUB
...or is it time time to take the laptop apart and put the HD in another machine to do the upgrade (EPIA-M10000) ?
I am quickly running out of ideas....
TIA,
-Peter
