Newbie needs help with enabling acpi on FedCore 2

I've just took the leap of faith and installed Fedora Core 2 on my Fujitsu S6010.

How do I get to enable APCI from the Gnome, otherwise from a terminal.

Step-by-step instructions would help greatly as this is my first time with linux and I would like to see a battery life indicator and be able to hibernate without having to reboot FC2.

Any help appreciated.
