This has probably been asked before, but here goes:
I just got finished downloading Mandrake 9.2 for i586. It took 5 days, about 16 hours a day, on the phone. So I go to install it on my HP laptop and It gets to PCMCIA detection. Naturally, there is a Kernal Panic and the caps lock light is flashing,
I made the partition, and for some reason it won't make the partition above about 2 gigs.
I just do a text install, and it works, except for when it tries to install something on the second disc. I only have the first disc, so I go to previous. Did everything else get installed? The bar only went to 50%. It was only to 37 packages, it this right for the
office
game
multimedia
internet
docs
web/ftp
KDE
GNOME
packages?
I did the same install on my friends desktop, sans the web server, and it went down without a hitch. Is this what was on the second disc?
I finally get everthing set up, and I boot up the system. It gets up to the PCMCIA starting and stops.
Also, if I do the the inteeractive startup or recover on the CD, the system stalls and won't let me do anything.
I know this ISO was fine; I MD5'ed it. ANy ideas on any of these problems?
One last question: Is a PCI modem usually on COM1?
