Talking New dell 700m...

I just ordered a new inspiron 700m last night, and was wondering what experiences people have had with them. Have had any problems with getting the wireless card working? Any odd things that you noticed? I am leaning towards putting SuSe on it since thats what i use at home, but I am open to other options. Any feedback would be cool. Thanks.

ive installed fc3 on my 700m. i could not get the screen resolution to the proper 1280x800 but i also did not try hard enough. the only thing that was not detected was the intel 2200g wireless but you can probably find drivers for it. i was using the regular broadcom wired lan.

i briefly put fedora core 3 on my new 700m, and found an amazing ammount of help from this article
the only thing i got to doing on it was installing the wireless though

even with this help, i am still new to linux, and i decided a distro like suse would be better for me, am now trying to get a hold of suse 9.2. hear it has built in wireless support

I just installed Ubuntu (Warty) on a new HP zv5320 with internal Broadcom WLAN. There aren't any Linux drivers for it, but I was able to use
ndiswrapper to load the WinXP drivers from the Driver/Recovery CD. If you can't find a Linux driver, I definitely recommend giving ndiswrapper a shot

I am posting this on a 700m with FC3 and a Dell 1300 wireless card that I pulled from my old 5100.

In order to get the screen to work properly you will need to run a program on startup (855resolution in rc.local) to insert the 1280x800 screen size.

The built-in eth0 is Broadcom B4400 and is supported in the 2.6 series kernel.

Wireless might be supported but will likely need ndiswrapper.

Battery life is amazing. I went coast to coast watching movies on the extended battery, and have done hours on the regular battery (I have both).

The machine is amazing - I recommend it highly.
