Netgear Ma401 wireless card doesn't work
 

hello, i am running slackware 9.1 on my laptop and can't get my wifi card to work. it is netgear ma401 card. when i try to use hotplug and insert the card it freezes the entire comp and i have to restart. if i use pcmcia, it just doesn't load. if i insert the card before i boot the comp, the pcmcia stuff detect the card and load orinoco_cs... but just sit afterwards and dont go thru with the booting. so i am have to restart again. is there a way i can get my card to work?

Well when i first loaded up linux, i heard that there would be a lot of trouble findind a wireless card to work. i heard correctly. i ran an older cisco card for about 10 days then it shit out on me. the only one i know for sure and have been using for about a month now is an older orinocco gold card. good luck

I'm not on my laptop right now, but I've got a MA401 running on a Slack 9.1 system. I'll take a looksee at it.

I can say, without a doubt, I have not had ANY issue with this card under Slack 9+, SuSE 8.1+, RH8-FC1, Debian Unstable, Gentoo, or Arch Linux.

Where in the bootup is it dying? Any hint in dmesg? I'll be able to get back to you later on this.

I have Gentoo Linux 2.6.10-r1 running right now and im trying to get my Netgear MA401 card to work but for some reason iwconfig doesnt show my card. When I plug in my card I see the green link light is on, no I know its getting power...

Please help me, I've been trying for weeks :-\

Ok heres the situation...

-2.6.10 kernel
-pcmcia support enabled on the kernel (will post the .config if requested)
-emerged pcmcia-cs package and added pcmcia to boot

I want to get my Netgear MA401 802.11b pcmcia card working, below is the error im getting at boot:

posting in here was my last resort, ive read and read all over, if anyone needs any more information just let me know and ill post accordingly.
