Need Hint On Toshiba M45 ethernet device
Hi Geniuses,
I got a Toshiba M45 (it has Sonoma) this is the culprit here: • Marvel® 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet. I got it working for a while in SuSE 9.X, but xorg was too messed up. (sax totally failed here) Though the xorg release candidte SuSE rpm fixed it once,Now after a clean reinstall there is no ethernet, nor is there in Fedora core 3 or Knoppix. Knoppix configured everything else properly and was fast. ? What is this ethernet card generically so I can load a module for it into kernel. Or is it there somewhere? What is this card? What is a marvel? I've tried about 20 different modules and have also disabled apic, usb. Side-note: this laptop has embedded Linux Media Player that boots from a left panel panel button. It will play music/dvd without booting into Windows. I think if I could intall with the latest kernel release (maybe using Gentoo) uggghhh!? I'm having limited success using the sk98lin module. Seems to work sporadically in SuSE. Fedora core 3 can't find any network devices on the other hand. No success for the Knoppix live cd either as I need kernel source for the new driver http://www.syskonnect.com/syskonnect/support/driver/zip/linux/install-7_09.tar.bz2

I've got the same computer myself... I'm hoping that the sk98lin works arlight, even though I don't have gigabit ethernet (only 10/100). Who in the world is this Marvel manufacturer and how come they're so damn obscure?! :(
How's the Wireless Intarweb working, though? |
