I know the title is not much descriptive, but I have tried many ways to do this so I don't have one specific problem and I want help for the whole process. I do have experience in installing OSes, but almost no experience on note/netbooks. Now for the specifics:
HP Mini 110-3110BR
Intel Atom N455 (1,66 GHz)
160 GB (5400 RPM) HD
1 GB DDR2 SDRAM (1 Dimm)
1 SD/MMC reader
3 USB ports
NO CD/DVD drive
My last attempt was to install (via Universal USB Installer) Debian Live on a pen drive. It booted, but stopped with a blinking cursor right after the line that starts with SYSLINUX. The pen drive's LED blinks slowly, with a cycle of about 4 seconds.
What should I do? Is there an easier way, or one that works for sure?
I have a very similar HP netbook, without CD/DVD. I used UNetBootin to install Ubuntu 9.04. Worked like a charm.
Here is a link to UNetBootin. It explains how to set this up, and what distors are known to work with UNetBootin.
I used a SanDisk usb 8 gig stick, I'm sure a much smaller stick will work. You do have to go into the BIOS and change it to boot from USB.
Damn me, my notification options were misconfigured, though it's strange because I always set up accounts fully before using them...

Thanks for the info, I'll work on it right now.
You said "here is a link" but I can't see it, but don't worry, the name's enough for me.
About the BIOS I'm well aware, as I said on the first post that it DID booted from the stick, just didn't went deeper.
Yep, worked wonderfully! Thank you so much for your help!
Apparently Universal USB Installer ain't as good as I suspected.
Now on to configure Debian...
