I am kinda of a newbie when it comes to this kung foo, I need find a master for this young grasshopper.
I was able to get my paws on a nice little laptop a Toshiba Portege 3025CT which has 64mb of Ram, 6 gig hd. I have tried to install RH 9 or Slack 8 with no luck. I am unable to load files from a PCMCIA CD rom that came with this laptop. I does have a floppy drive but I am unable to find or to stupid to get a proper driver for this PCMCIA cd rom to work. I tried using a nic card that i have which is a POS SMC EZ 10 but unable to locate a proper driver for that. Please help.
Distribution: Slack Puppy Debian DSL--at the moment.

You need to give more info.
Did the CD-ROM spin up and attempt to load a kernel?
Did the whole thing just sit there like a door-stop?
If it did attempt to fire up and failed, then it is a matter of giving the proper parameters to the kernel upon boot up. Did you try a knoppix CD? What happened exactly?
Toshiba laptops have a real history in Linux. Do a search with the key words: Toshiba AND install at google.com/linux and you will see what I mean.
Okay when i am trying to install slack 8 i have a base floppy a install 1 and install 2 disc
then i get to the point of using the pcmcia disc from slack and i hear the pcmcia cd rom power on and spin, then i try to run setup which gives me the option to format which i did and then the next step is to select the source to install slackware, which I then try to auto select cd rom and it does not find the pcmcia cd rom drive i have. Which is a Panisonic KXL-807A. Could you point me in the right direction please thanks.
Okay did some diggin and found that if you press the C button when you pwr on the laptop it boots from the pcmcia card, I can boot now, but when i tell the setup to install from source, i select cd/rom it still doesnt find the drive, i have used the following kernals to boot, (bare, scsi1, 2, 3, adaptec) any other suggestions.
Okay I found something intresting, I am able to boot using the "Pressing C" button while powering up, but when I try to select the source media I am unable to find a driver to continue the install. Did some searching as suggested and found the following link.
I see the CD Rom that I have for this lapto which is a Panasonic KXL-807A now I dont know what to do next, do i have to recomiple using a kernal just to have slackware know where to install from ?
