Since it's my first linux install I don't have aclue what to do... should I try RH or other distro

i forget the name of the slack kernel but whatever it is at the first point in the install where you normally pick your kernel or just hit enter type '<yourkernelname> nousb' without the quotes or brackets. on hp you need to do thiss wgatever distro you choose. only during install though its all fine after that.

HOORAY! You fixed my problem before I managed to ask about it.

Installing Slackware 9 on an HP Pavilion ze4430, this fixed the lockup problem on install.

Right now, the only problem I have is the lack of support for the wireless card.

Again, thanks for your help.

The other method (the one I used) for HP ze series laptops, is simply tapping the spacebar during anaconda during install. After that RH seems to work great on these machines. My ze4230 rules...
