My first linux install, keyboard frozen
Hi, I'm installing Slackware 9.0 on a HP ze 4229, first minute all fine, first question it asks: choose Keyboard mapping, I hit enter to choose US and it just freezes, tried typing different numbers nothing happenedd. Since it's my first linux install I don't have aclue what to do... should I try RH or other distro
thanks in advance |
i forget the name of the slack kernel but whatever it is at the first point in the install where you normally pick your kernel or just hit enter type '<yourkernelname> nousb' without the quotes or brackets. on hp you need to do thiss wgatever distro you choose. only during install though its all fine after that.

Installing Slackware 9 on an HP Pavilion ze4430, this fixed the lockup problem on install. Right now, the only problem I have is the lack of support for the wireless card. Again, thanks for your help. |
The other method (the one I used) for HP ze series laptops, is simply tapping the spacebar during anaconda during install. After that RH seems to work great on these machines. My ze4230 rules...
