Run Linux in live mode off of the install media. See if you can find if there is any data on your hard drive or obviously missing directories. I would also suggest trying a few different distributions of Linux before settling on one. If you have found just one that is your favorite and it doesn't work, try downloading it again or burn another disk. |
Please I need help finding OS for EEE PC 900a, I don't have my original copy. I need to no where to go to download a copy of the OS to my USB card.

What is the OS you are referring to? If it is Windows, try to get a copy from your vendor/manufacturer. If it is Linux, chose one from this site, then download and install it.

Have you tried the good old fashioned F9 restore?

http://www.mepis.org/ Whether you get 8.0 or 8.5, you can't make a bad choice with Mepis. Obviously with a netbook + Atom processor, you will need the 32 bit version, not the 64 bit. This is how to make a live USB to install it on a netbook. Of course, if you have access to an external DVD player, you can use the DVD or CD and not worry about making a live USB installer. http://www.mepislovers.org/forums/us...#s02-3_liveusb |

Something like puppy, slitaz, wolvix, zenwalk or slax is likelly light enough to run fast on such underpowered computer.

Mine crashed by just disconnecting the power supply. The original operating system that was preinstalled was Xandros but now there are many distributions tailored to it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari..._distributions
You probably can run any distribution but it makes sense to use one that is optimized for the hardware. I would suggest Ubuntu netbook edition as a replacement. |
