Mouse stick only works when I'm connected to the net!?!?

This makes no sense. I am baffled. The mouse stick on my Dell Inspiron 4150 only works when eth0 is up and running.

I don't know where to start fixing this.

Any suggestions?

Wow. That's a stumper. I'd try removing the mouse from the hardware manager (what distro is this?) and Then I'd re-install it. if that didn't work... I'd wonder about trying a new distro, or look to see if it's a hardware thing..... Heck, it could even be ACPI related, or some other power manager thing. That's weird man.
