Mouse AND Touchpad SuSE 11.1

Hi everyone !

I have several LIVE-DVD-Distris from magazines.

Only 2 SuSE 11`s can detect my old 3-Button Mouse
while in LIVE-MODE.
It is a Serial Logitech M-M 35 connected to a
Prolific PL-2303 USB to Serial adapter.

The mouse I got bare from 2nd-hand and the adapter
new; with drivers including one for linux on mini-CD.
When I searched the internet, google showed there have
been several blogs about Prolific-Drivers.
That driver dint´t worked on Vista
until I got an update via download.

I installed one of these SuSE 11 distr. on an USB-Stick and the
installation worked slow but it worked.

But now I have the problem, that the touchpad is working, but
the mouse is not !

Due to the fact, that I am a newbee to programing and internet
but not to the installing of Linux SuSE 6.2, aurox 8, Debian 3.1
Sarge and Knoppix ,
I am very frustrated that somehow Yast2 or SAX2 aren´t able to
fix a new mouse (after both worked well while on running DVD ).

Had anyone the same problems ?
Are there more commands and little sub-programs except sax and yast ?
I tried gpm but somehow didn´t worked.
..

additional : (in former times it was possible to type in by keyboard hardware at SaX and YaST that was not found.)

New : console-command «lsusb» says there is a Prolific 2303 connected ...
when I disconnect this adapter the command «lsusb» doesn´t list it ...
when I connect it again at another usb-port «lsusb» lists it at its new port.
This seems to be O.K. ...
It seems to be the mouse that is not recognized ... ?

Smile Thank you for giving a hint !

Thanks to everyone that tries to help !
Research at the internet often takes a long time as everyone knows who ventured into it, I guess.
I did not tried the link right now.
I bought me a new -now wireless- one, yesterday .
It is TRUST 16536 or TRUST EASYCLICK WIRELESS MOUSE.
It came without driver-data storage-media.
It is the 12,99 €-category at woolworth at the moment.
I decided to do what the name is : to trust .
It should be found on www.trust.com/16536.
I did not tried the site yet also.
Last time I was at YAST somehow I let the third mouse at HARDWARE>MOUSE MODEL being Auto Generic and activated.
The whole screen is faster now.
Tomorrow I want to attend an Active Directory -course at my university.
I think I should close this thread in one or two weeks to let other Linux-Users time to post their experiences here, too.
At the moment I want to fix this UMTS-theme also. Saving Modem Configuration loops at 83% for several minutes now. There is also an unknown problem with the right screen definition at start : mode 31a unknown and also in the end there is somehow no immediate possibility to start the computer new after the command "halt" ... somehow have to wait two hours ... try to fix it for the moment with rebooting Vista.
But newer the less , thank you very much ... SAFARI-Browser does not duplicate tab ... looks like copy'n'paste doesn´t do it ... (#!!#) ... aah ... there is it ... Anisha (common girls´ names in Germany Anja, Anke, Uschi, Anne, Annita ... hope I am right ... the attributes are not show here at advanced editor ...)
I love you all !
If somebody has something to add here : You are welcome !

No heart-smiley ...
I´ll choose hat or smile ...

24/25-Apr-2010 :The link for the mouse is right; but the USB-receiver is a whole thin plasic one without metal-mouth.
It must have been a mouse-driver problem and I will probably find out why the driver does not work after finishing install.
