I don't use chromebooks nor chrome browser but chromebooks use a linux kernel.

Exactly. Microsoft is a law firm first and foremost and it's their lawyers that ensure their products sell by tying their competition up in legal proceedings.
Thankfully, as the linked article suggests, the adverts are probably good for Google as they will make people aware of and curious about Chrome Books as an alternative.
As it happens I would prefer a system running Debian to one running Chrome OS but that's because I like to use separate applications to do things. If I had more money though I'd probably have a Chromebook for use travelling and the like.

Reading some of these articles remind me how out of touch some folks are.

Like watching the news and hearing how a low cost convection oven can't cook food as well

Steve Jobs was right about one thing he once said MS lacks vision, culture and creativity.

It's plain as day, MS is envy of IOS, Android and Google ChromeOS because these three companies did a better job with their mobile devices and MS didn't or maybe people are just tired of windows and/or the way it has become.

I can agree with that, except the chocolate chip cookies. Those are more like no bake cookies with way too much salt added to them. They look good at first, but when you get to the core of it they are really bitter.

Windows has always been garbage and it always will be garbage.

I'm waiting for an ad campaign to convert people to Linux. Maybe something like, "The world already runs on Linux, now it's time for your computer to run it too!"

Bill Gates was a opportunist, Steve jobs jobs was revolutionary.

Its like the "video war" the best does not always win.
Betamax was considered better then VHS but it never became standard.

Its also about timing
Microsoft have launched everything at exact right time, making people believe that what they do is the best.
And since "there are nothing else" people just use it and go with the flow upgrade to new windows version when its time to replace the computer since its not possible to buy a pc with anything else installed on it.

Until now.
Apple have had great success with iphone and user opened their eyes for the macintosh which actually is a great computer.
They don't really know why they but one just that Apple make great products so they buy one in their belief that its the greatest.
And i must say it works pretty well.


Microsoft is loosing its shares on the desktop market do they will never admit it.
Windows 8 did not come out that great, their tablets, pads or what they call them does not stick out.
And Windows phone they are way behind there is not room for a third competitor at the top level.

But they won't disappear remember with money comes great powers, they have resources.

These days? MS smearing the competition they cannot buy out with FUD is nothing new. Apparently, you have never paid attention before.
