Microphone not working - FC6 on a X86_64 machine [HP Presario V3133AU]

Hi I have a Fedora core 6 installed on a AMD based [x86_64] HP Presario V3133AU laptop. When i test for the microphone using Skype client it gives me error, i.e. there is no sound captured by the card.

Some of the system output is represented below.

From the console or xterm session run alsamixer and enable/adjust the microphone volume.

Lenard, I have already done the disable enable capture as well as have all available volumes at 100 (max) but nothing helps unfortunately.

Looks like no one has encountered such a problem here. Is there anyway I can reach guys at Fedora, i.e Redhat for some help or is it that they do not help at all.

Cheers,
Monty

10. Microphone
Headphones can be used to listen audio - the speakers get automatically muted when one plugs in the headphones. Listening to the Skype testing call voice therefore not an issue. However, recording via the microphone again needs some (minor) manual interaction:

Open a terminal and enter

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

In the editor, scroll down to the last line (should look like

options snd-usb-audio index=-2
options snd-usb-usx2y index=-2

and add the following line:

options snd-hda-intel model=hp position_fix=1 enable=yes

This should do the trick.
