Memory stick pcmcia card does not work

An icon mnt/hde1 appears on the desktop for my memory stick card reader, but when I click on the icon I get the message "mount point /mnt/hde1 does not exist". I know this is very little info, but I will get you more info if you tell me what to do.
BTW, I use the parameters acpi=force pci=noacpi because the BIOS is buggy. Don't know if that has a bearing or not.

Which distro & DE (kde? gnome?) are you using? You probably just have to create that mount point. Open up a console and (as root) enter

Code:

mkdir /mnt/hde1

That did not work

I did what you suggested, but all I get is a message stating "mounting /dev/ hde1" with a percentage value of 0%. When I cancelled it, I got the error "please insert the disk correctly, which it was already.
I use Mepis 2004.06. Anymore help would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly, Mepis creates the mount points automatically, so the problem might be elsewhere. Check the mepis forums; it might be some sort of a bug...
