Angry Memory Stick on Sony

I have Red Hat 9 installed on a sony Vaio. The hardware browser tells me it ts device /dev/sdb but I cant seem to mount it. The only way the mount command even works is if i say :
mount -t usbfs /mnt/mstick /dev/sdb

however if I cd to the /mnt/mstick dir I see a dir named 001 and 2 files - but this is not the contents of the memory stick
