MDK 9.2 keeps sending installion errors
Hello everyone,
I have an ASUS L4000 Laptop and have had SuSE running from the live CD but I wanted a distribution on a hard disk, I don't have SuSE but I do have Mandrake 9.2, so I first tested out the installtion on my desktop which worked fine, so then having an external hard disk connected to my laptop via USB I inserted the MDK installation disk into the laptop's cd.
All went well, chose my language, security and also my partions, Mandrake does a good job at finding both the internal and external hard drives, it is only when the time comes to install that things go a bit wiff.
It installs for a few seconds and then I get installation errors.
Perl-base-5.8.1-0 rc43.mdk.i586
Libbzip2_1-1.0.2-16...
Bzip2-1.0.2-16...
This carries on untill it asks for the second disk which then gives me errors, from this I know that there is no OS being installed, the strange thing is that the access light on the external hard drive stays on but when I have it attached to the desktop with the same configuration the access light blinks as it should and the installtion goes very smoothly.
Could this be a hardware problem with the laptop, do I need to upgrade a drive or the bios?
On the internal disk I have Win2000.
Hope someone can help.
