Just done a text install of Mandrake 9.1 whilst awaiting some additional RAM for a resurrected Armada 1580DMT P1MMX 150MHz 2.1gb with 32Mb Ram. Install was slick and completed in about 1 1/2 hours.

Mandrake accurately found the Video card, Cirrus Logic GD754...., however, even when setting basic resolutions I cannot get the screen to work with X! Monitor type is unavailable as Compaq / HP are unable to advise me of the manufacturer so I am currently going through all other options, so far without success.

Has anyone any wisdom to impart that might help? Mandrake has lots of Compaq monitors listed but none seem to work. Tried all the generic types as well but so far nothing

I am slightly concerned that I just don't have enough RAM, this will be sorted within a week or so with an additional 64Mb. I believe the video card carries 1Mb. After reading some of the posts I realize that I may be asking a lot from the machine with regard to Mandrake as all comments I have read seem to be that it is heavy on resources.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I have read back on most of the archive to check for similar problems and searched the web extensively without joy!
