Mandrake and changing the aspect ratio

I have an emachine laptop and I just installed Mandrake on it. Now the emachine HAS a 1280 * 800 (16:10) resolution. However Mandrake doesnt seem to support that resolution. Should I just go ahead and change XFreeConfig?? Any help here will be appreciated. RIght now all the windows look abnormally stretched coz I have set a 1280 * 1024 res on the screen!!! Please help

"Should I just go ahead and change XFreeConfig?"

You could try 1280 x 800 and see how it works. If it does not work then X Window may not work. So make sure that you can get to a command line if X Window fails and make sure that you have a command line editor available so that you can change XFreeConfig back to 1280 x 1024 if necessary.

Cool it works .. now to get USB 2.0 and power management running. Think I will need to recompile my kernel..
